UP on two wheels.
spent the weekend in this hard boiled wonder. been wanting to test drive it for months now, so i got lucky at the airport-rent-a-car dispensary. with a few cheeky maneuvers they gave me this little bundle of fury. took about an hour to acclimate to the george jetson bubble top feel, but by then i was well into the mountains- hwy 17 to santa cruz. this switchback highway probably claims one life a week in the dry seasons.
this re-spun classic was like glue in the turns and sang dixie at 6k on the tach. very smooth transmission- peak italian design. each of the four wheels gripped the road like a cat up a tree. every car down the line, became a slalom cone. it was a flood of adrenaline that unfortunately left my seat damp.
a bit too much plastic trim inside for my liking, but starting 14k this is a *MINI killer no doubt. the mpg’s were spot on from factory spec @ 38mpg. heaps of head room. i also shoe-horned this two door into the nooks and crannies of SF with out loosing paint. this little one is a performer. #justwaittilltheabarthgetshere
